Technology Solutions for Defense & Aerospace
Mission-ready embedded, RF, edge, and secure software for demanding programs.
RT Projects supports defense and aerospace teams with embedded software, RF systems, board-level integration, secure communication workflows, and production-oriented engineering delivery.
Programs in this sector are judged on evidence rather than intent: interfaces that hold against real hardware, environmental margins that survive qualification, and documentation a reviewer can actually follow. We join where that pressure is highest — porting to constrained silicon, stabilizing an integration that keeps slipping, or owning a work package end to end — and hand back software your team can maintain and defend in a review.
The industry's challenges — and how we answer them.
Certification evidence gets assembled too late
Mission and airborne software is expected to show requirements traceability, review records, and test evidence. On most programs that documentation is reconstructed near the end of the schedule, exactly when changes cost the most.
We structure work packages so traceability, review notes, and test results are produced while the code is written. The certification path stays owned by your program, and the engineering evidence it depends on arrives with each delivery instead of after it.
Legacy platforms, new mission requirements
Fielded systems run on MCUs, buses, and RF front-ends that were specified years ago, while new requirements ask for on-device processing, higher data rates, and encrypted links.
We profile and optimize against the existing silicon first. Where the headroom genuinely runs out, we design a compute or RF module that keeps the mechanical, electrical, and interface envelope intact so the platform does not need to be requalified from scratch.
Update and diagnostics paths become the weak surface
Once a device is deployed, firmware update, key handling, and diagnostics are the surfaces an adversary reaches first. They are also the parts of the system that are usually designed last.
We treat secure boot, image signing, and telemetry as part of the system architecture rather than a late addition: verified update flows, key storage on the device, and diagnostics that give integration teams what they need without opening a maintenance back door.
Integration risk concentrates at the end of the program
Hardware, firmware, and application software mature on different timelines, so schedule risk accumulates in the final integration window, when there is no margin left to absorb it.
We take ownership of defined work packages with integration milestones early in the program: bring-up on real hardware, staged validation against the interfaces, and a documented production handoff. Risk is retired while the schedule can still absorb it.
Mission-critical embedded software
Real-time software for constrained systems, field devices, and hardware-adjacent applications.
RF and signal-processing systems
Support for RF workflows, SDR concepts, FPGA-adjacent integration, and system validation.
Secure communication workflows
Architecture and implementation support for secure update, signing, diagnostics, and telemetry paths.

Xilinx RFSoC based SDR
A software-defined radio (SDR) system based on Xilinx's Zynq RFSoC. Combines processing system, programmable logic, and RF data converters for ultra-high frequencies. The project's core — FPGA design and real-time signal processing for defense and advanced communications.
Satellite Project
An advanced project combining satellite communications, real-time signal processing and autonomous control systems, built against the high-reliability demands of space — from concept through to launch.

Discuss Your Program ↗Built to the standards this sector is audited against.
We engineer toward the standards your program is measured against, and produce the evidence its certification path depends on.
DO-178C
Airborne software design assurance. We support readiness workflows — requirements traceability, review records, and coverage evidence — while certification responsibility remains with the program and its designated authority.
DO-254
Design assurance for airborne electronic hardware. Relevant where we integrate against, validate, or support FPGA and complex hardware items inside the system.
MIL-STD-810
Environmental qualification. We design and validate toward the shock, vibration, humidity, and thermal profiles the program defines for its operating envelope.
MIL-STD-461
Electromagnetic interference requirements. We support EMI and EMC aware board and RF integration, plus pre-compliance measurement and debug before formal test.
MIL-STD-1553 / ARINC 429
Avionics data bus interfaces. Driver, diagnostics, and integration work against 1553, ARINC 429, and CAN in mixed legacy and modern architectures.
FIPS 140-3
Cryptographic module requirements. We architect key handling, secure boot, and signing flows around approved modules and HSM integration paths.
